The Short-Trading Portfolio showed some metal in the latest week, albeit in a down market, which does not hurt. The portfolio ended the week gaining 2.5% versus a loss of nearly 30 basis points on the S&P 500. This week's gain helped the portfolio to a 2.2% gain for this year, still down 4 percentage point on a relative basis, and 5.3% gain since inception, or 10 basis point gain relative to the market. All of this is reflected in the chart below showing the portfolio (blue line) versus the S&P 500 (green) and NASDAQ (brown).
The gains on the week were largely due to 14.7% decline in the stock price of EHTH, the 2% loss for AAPL, and the 3% loss on the USO.
