The Long-Trading Portfolio recouped some ground lost last week with a 5% gain in the latest week. This was on the strong performance of Alpha Natural Resources after the company reported better-than-expected results. For comparison purposes, the market gained only 12 basis points. After this week's gain, the portfolio remain down 7% for the year, for a relative loss of 13.5%, and is up 5.3% since inception, the later represents a nearly breakeven level versus the market since inception. The performance is reflected in the chart below with the blue being the portfolio, the green line the S&P 500 and the brown line representing the NASDAQ.
