Investors and traders spent the day selling stocks off. Not only did the market(s) close at the daily low, they did on volume. Over the last few trading days, volume levels have picked up as investors have been selling off stocks. In any event, all sector groups sold off in yesterday's trading.
Looking at the heat map for yesterday's trading, there is a significant amount of red across the board, as you would expect. Utilities appear to be the standout sector with the outperformance in price and price/volume intersection most likely a combination of a dead cat bounce and a flight to safety. Outside of this observation, the market performance appeared to be somewhat bifurcated. Although the weight of the trades were more on the supply side, there are more than a few upside trades across each sector.
