The fractal dimension or the genius of Mandelbrot

I have found the summer is a good time to not only reassess my portfolios and build watch lists, but it is also a good time to catch up on reading and watch/listen to anything that expands my horizons and understanding. I have had the below NOVA episode on my DVR for a long time and watch it occasionally on YouTube.

I find it strange that this field of science is only 40 to 50 years old. I have also found it interesting how well fractal geometry (chaos theory or whatever you want to call it) appears to describe the price movements in stocks and other investments.
