This picture is the farthest we have ever seen, somewhere in the vicinity of 13.2 billion light years from Earth. Some of these galaxies are only 450 million years old, a fraction of the age of the universe. In fact, the light gathered from these galaxies is so faint that it took the Hubble space telescope nearly 10 years and 50 different exposures to build this image.
