The Mission Continues..... Charity Raffle to Win a Chance to Workout With General Petraeus
The Mission Continues is a non-profit charity organization that assists veterans and provides a support framework for veterans to perform various community service work. Or so I am learning, as I was intrigued by a charity event raffle the organization is running with the help of General Petraeus.
The charity event will have you and friend 'be challenged" by General Petraeus in a 5K run around the National Mall in Washington D.C. in what the website (found here) calls a grueling physical and metal challenge. I could only imagine what grueling means to a four-star general who was the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and supposedly a fitness aficionado. This seems like a great cause and if a grueling physical challenge does not seem interesting, how about playing battleship with the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Admiral Mullen. They have me sold.

Best Line I heard Today- The Fed is Not Manipulating Prices....
This is too good not to share. I heard someone I do respect- hence will remain nameless- state the following.
"The Fed is not manipulating prices, it is just giving away free money."
Wait, what. Doesn't that statement imply the violation of all sorts of economic rules. Money that is created or interest rates that are manipulated lower than the market rate will lead to purchases and capital decisions that would otherwise not be made, thus either creating false demand or pulling demand that would have otherwise develop in the future. The distortion of demand HAS to manipulate and distort the signals imbedded in prices, just as a function the supply/demand curve intersection. The statement essentially highlights everything that is wrong with the Fed trying manipulate the economy.
